Erin will share key points from her 2020 book, focusing on the three truths that white people in the US must acknowledge before engaging on the subject of race or racism with a Black person.
About the Author/Presenter: Erin McGowan Sassaman is a high school social studies teacher in Scotch Plains, NJ, and mother of two bright, beautiful girls. Erin has a politics degree from New York University and Masters in School Counseling. Because the classes she teaches have been filled with rich discourse amongst teenagers about topics that make grown adults queasy, she offers a little bit of insight into how to possibly replicate that in “real life” for the reader.
